On Friday, June 20, 2025, Camino conducted an outreach class for first-year students at Yamanakako Junior High School as part of an environmental education initiative.

The lesson began with a lecture on the environmental impact of plastic and the urgent need for sustainable alternatives. We then introduced how PLA (polylactic acid), the plant-based material used in PAPLUS®, is made—demonstrating the process of extracting starch from corn using a blender, in a way that was easy for students to understand.

Students also had the opportunity to experience hands-on learning by melting PLA and pouring it into silicone molds shaped like characters.

To help students understand the biodegradability of PLA, we also provided compostable bags. Going forward, students will participate in a composting activity by placing food waste from school lunches into the bags to observe the decomposition process.

We were deeply encouraged by the students’ enthusiasm—many of them took notes attentively and participated actively. Their curiosity and engagement became a source of inspiration and motivation for our team.
